Right now, when you sign up Spotify generates a random username, but you're able to choose an account name. Also, when I look in the android app, it shows that I'm logged as my chosen username.

I just took a look at my profile and noticed that spotify displays not my name, but 1214123792 as my "username", which I do not like.
So, I've been a spotify member for six months now and have had no problems until now. IF YOU CREATE IT ON DESKTOP YOU GET THE RANDOM NUMBERS. So now i have an account paid for one month with a random user name and invited family members.

The only way to display your name would be to connect to fb again.There is an idea for creating a username somewhere on the ideas section (but I can't seem to find it, sorry!). I had issues with my account a couple of years back and had to recreate it, this is what they said about usernames when I asked:
Auto-suggest helps you quickly narrow down your search results by suggesting possible matches as you type.

So, I've been a spotify member for six months now and have had no problems until now. I understand I can login with my email, but why is spotify asking you to choose a username when you sign up if they are just going to disregard it?
I haven't linked to facebook and I signed up to the new account via the website on PC, don't know if any of that matters.
However, on my account page, it appears as a random string of numbers and letters.
Weird what is the number and I will double check your public profile? why on earth would I do that?
When I signed up for spotify I connected to my facebook account and continued signing in with my email, just like I would for facebook.
