It’s similar to the case of handling replacing a deb with the snap. But I think that’s a bit out of topic. It's why I try to avoid 3rd party packages/repositories if at all possible. A few weeks ago, Canonical announced cross distribution support for Snap application delivery mechanism, one that could support mobile, desktop and server-based applications.
